Travis, 1995 - 2011

Today I said goodbye to my best friend for 16 years. Travis had not been the same in the past 6 months, he had dementia and trouble going to the bathroom. Over the past 4 days he took a turn for the worst. It was only today when we had to put him down did we realize he had a tumor in his back (common with Corgi’s) like our previous Corgi Sammy.

I was with him holding his paw and petting his head as the doctor injected his IV. I was the last thing he saw as I heard him take his last breath and the doctor said “He’s gone.”

I can only hope that one day when I have children, I can provide them with a dog as good as Travis. He was an amazing friend and my childhood wouldn’t have been the same without him. As upset as I am now, I know he lived a happy and fulfilling life, after all he was 16. I’m just happy he spent those 16 years with my family, and I owe him as much as any person could owe their pet.

I’m going to miss you buddy, you were a good dog.
